It is not always easy to find out if your WordPress website is hacked or not. It is a heck of a job to know where to start and where to look for the hacks first. You can try different things but none of the tricks are certain and enough but I believe we need to start somewhere.

This post is delayed. Sorry about that…. got busy with several other things but the series for securing your WordPress website will continue. You can’t let some sneaky guy mess with your hard work in the WordPress website development. Give them an infinite series of check points that they feel its not worth wasting time with your WordPress.

Free Services to scan your WordPress Website

Begin with basics, have regular scans for your website with some plugins like Wordfence wordpress security plugin. Also, keep your website checked in Google’s webmaster tools as they are the ranking engine and the website should be perfect to get high rankings on Google search engine. But just not be certain about anything as a perfectly passed website from Google or any other security plugin may have vulnerabilities. So do not rest back with your eyes blindfolded.  Always keep a check on the indexing of your website on Google search by site:yourwebsite.com in Google search box.

There are many free services like Sucuri Site Check, CodeGuard  which will scan your website and keep you alerted for various malware, hacks and potentially threatening unwanted files in your WordPress install.

Few more important things to remember

You need to be on your toes everyday doing all these checks. Don’t forget to check your Google Analytics account religiously. You can getting different good plugins to track your Google Analytics account from within your WordPress admin.

So, these some already known tips to check your WordPress website hacks. One thing which I try is compare the filesize of wp-config, .htaccess, and various index files in my WordPress Website with the original WordPress repository. If you find a difference then there is something sneaky in there.
